Cookie Policy
The short version
- Reading this website sets no cookies. Not one.
- The only thing we save on your device is your answer to the cookie banner, in your browser's local storage (see the table below).
- We count visits on our own server, without cookies and without any outside company. Nothing is stored on your device for it.
- No advertising, no social-media buttons, no embedded videos and no outside fonts. At the moment nothing optional is running.
- If we ever add something optional, we will name it on this page first and switch it on only if you click "Accept".
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a tiny text file that a website saves in your browser. "Local storage" is a similar little notebook inside your browser. On this page, "cookies" means both, because the same rules apply. Some are strictly necessary for something you asked for (for example staying logged in). Others are optional, such as advertising or outside statistics. Optional ones need your consent first.
2. Everything this website stores on your device
This is the complete list. If it is not in this table, we do not use it.
| Name | What it is for | How long it lasts | Who gets it |
|---|---|---|---|
| bw_consent (local storage) | Remembers your answer to the cookie banner ("accepted" or "declined") and the date. It is never sent to our server. Strictly necessary for the banner to work. | 6 months, then we ask you again | Every visitor, once they click Accept or Decline |
| bw_admin (cookie) | Keeps the two of us logged in to the private admin area. Strictly necessary. | Until the browser is closed, or after 2 hours without activity | Only on the private admin login page (in practice, the two of us). Never on the public pages |
| bw_noc (cookie) | Tells our visit counting not to count our own visits. It contains only the number 1. | 400 days (about 13 months) | Only the two of us, after we log in to the admin. Never on the public pages |
3. How we count visits without cookies
To see which pages are read, we count visits ourselves. No cookie is set and nothing is saved on your device for this. We keep only daily totals, such as how many people read a page, and we cannot tell who you are. If your browser sends "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control", we do not count you at all. The details, including the legal basis, are in Section 2 of our Privacy & Policy page.
The contact form, the Witch List and the RSVP form use no cookies either. Their spam protection works without saving anything on your device.
4. Your choice
When you first visit, a small banner asks whether you accept optional extras in case we add them later. "Accept" and "Decline" are equally easy to click. Nothing optional is ever loaded before you accept. If you decline, or simply do not answer, it is never loaded.
You can change your mind at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing your consent does not affect what happened before. Legal basis for optional extras: Section 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021 (TKG 2021) together with Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. The items in the table above are strictly necessary and do not need consent.
5. Outside services
We do not use advertising, social-media plug-ins, embedded videos or outside statistics. Fonts, pictures and code all come from this website itself. Links to other websites, such as our Instagram account, are only links: nothing is loaded from them, and no cookie is set by them, until you follow the link. From then on, that website's own rules apply.
If we ever switch on an outside service, for example an embedded video, we will add it to the table above, with the provider, the purpose and how long it stores data, before it goes live. It will only load after you accept.
6. Deleting or blocking cookies yourself
You can see, delete or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings (usually under "Privacy" or "Security"). This website works fine without any of them. If you delete "bw_consent", the banner will simply appear again on your next visit.
7. Changes to this page
We update this page when the website or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
