Blumen & Bohnen

Half flower shop, half café, entirely photogenic. Order the flat white and stay for the light.

Blumen & Bohnen does exactly what the name promises — a working flower shop that also happens to serve very good coffee, with buckets of seasonal stems doubling as the interior design budget. It sounds like it shouldn't work as a place to actually sit and read. It works.

The Order

The flat white is the move — properly textured milk, a coffee that can stand up to it. They rotate a seasonal syrup that in autumn is usually something spiced and worth asking about even if it's not on the board. Pastries are bought in rather than baked on site, which is the one place it shows against Café Kafka, but they're well-sourced and nobody's pretending otherwise.

The Vibe

Mornings are the best time to go — the light through the front windows hits the flower buckets just right, and it's quiet enough to actually concentrate. By early afternoon it fills up with a mix of laptop workers and people clearly just there for the flowers, and seating gets tight. Solo table for one, tucked by the window, if you're fast.

"A café that smells like a garden and somehow still smells like coffee. We don't know how they did it."

Our Verdict

Four moons. Docked slightly for seating that disappears by noon, but it's the prettiest place on this list by a wide margin.
