Café Kafka
Our unofficial office. Get the pistachio croissant, claim a corner table, and nobody will rush you out.
We've written more of this website from a corner table at Café Kafka than we're willing to fully admit. It's the kind of place that seems to have been designed specifically for people who intend to order one coffee and stay for four hours — high-backed booths, low light that's kind to laptop screens and paperbacks alike, and staff who have long since stopped asking if we need anything else.
The Order
Start with the pistachio croissant — it sells out by early afternoon on weekends, so this is not a "we'll circle back" situation. The house filter coffee is reliably good rather than showy, which is exactly what you want when you're planning to be here a while. Geraldine has switched entirely to their oat milk flat white and has Opinions about anyone who orders it differently.
The Vibe
Weekday mornings are quiet enough to actually read in. Weekend afternoons get loud in the good way — full tables, a low hum of conversation, the occasional dog under someone's chair. It's never precious about who's there or how long they stay, which is rarer than it should be for a café this good-looking.
"The kind of café where the waitstaff learn your order before you've fully committed to it yourself."
Our Verdict
Five moons. If you only visit one café off this list, make it this one — and bring a book, because you won't want to leave.
